TN Police Transfers 2025: DIG Magesh Kumar Reinstated, Full IPS List

In a significant move, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a fresh round of police transfers affecting senior IPS officers across the state. A total of 18 officers have been transferred or promoted, with the most notable update being the reinstatement of DIG D. Magesh Kumar.
DIG D. Magesh Kumar Returns to Service
DIG D. Magesh Kumar, who had been under suspension since February 2025 following sexual harassment allegations, has now been reinstated. He has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of Coastal Security Group, Chennai, after the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) cleared him of the charges.
He replaces R. Jayanthi, who has been posted as DIG, Technical Services, Chennai.
Major IPS-Level Transfers
Several key postings have been updated as part of the reshuffle:
M.R. Sibi Chakravarthi has been posted as DIG & Chief Vigilance Officer, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL), Chennai.
Pakerla Cephas Kalyan is now DIG/Joint Commissioner, South Zone, Greater Chennai Police.
Disha Mittal takes over as DIG/Joint Commissioner, West Zone, Greater Chennai.
E.S. Uma has been moved to the Villupuram Range from Salem Range.
SP and AIG Appointments
The reshuffle also includes new appointments at the SP and AIG levels:
G. Nagajothi is now SP-I, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB).
S.P. Lavanya becomes SP, State Crime Records Bureau, Chennai.
Amanat Mann, formerly in Vacancy Reserve, has been posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Social Justice and Human Rights, Chennai.
DCP-Level Transfers
Key DCP-level changes include:
B. Geetha has been posted to Greater Chennai Police Headquarters from Salem City.
V. Geetha takes charge at Salem City Headquarters, transferred from Tirunelveli.
A. Velmurugan becomes DCP, Central Crime Branch, Tambaram.
K. Prabakar is now SP-III, Cyber Crime Wing, Chennai.
Promotions and New Postings
Three officers have been promoted:
Kelkar Subhramanya Balachandra is posted as DCP (South), Salem City.
Kambham Samuel Praveen Gowtham and V. Prasannakumar have been promoted to SP rank and posted as DCPs in Tiruppur and Tirunelveli, respectively.
