Tamil Nadu Government Reshuffles 18 Police Officers; Promotions Included

In a significant administrative move, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the transfer and reshuffling of 18 police officers, including several from the Indian Police Service (IPS). The reshuffle includes key appointments, strategic postings, and promotions across different zones of the state, aimed at bolstering administrative efficiency and strengthening law enforcement structures.
Key Transfers and Postings
D. Magesh Kumar, formerly on ‘Vacancy Reserve’ at the Head of Police Force (HOPF), Chennai, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Coastal Security Group, Chennai.
R. Jayanthi, the outgoing DIG of Coastal Security Group, has been shifted to DIG, Technical Services, Chennai.
M.R. Sibi Chakravarthi, previously DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police, South Zone, Greater Chennai Police, has been posted as DIG/Chief Vigilance Officer, Tamil Nadu Newsprints and Papers Limited, Chennai.
Pakerla Cephas Kalyan has been moved from West Zone to become the DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police, South Zone, Greater Chennai Police.
Disha Mittal, formerly DIG, Villupuram Range, has now been appointed as DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Greater Chennai Police.
E.S. Uma has been transferred from Salem Range to Villupuram Range.
Superintendent-Level Appointments
G. Nagajothi is now Superintendent of Police-I at the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, Chennai, after serving at the State Crime Records Bureau.
Amanat Mann, earlier in Vacancy Reserve, has been appointed as Assistant Inspector General of Police, Social Justice and Human Rights, Chennai.
S.P. Lavanya has taken over as SP, State Crime Records Bureau, replacing Nagajothi.
Deputy Commissioner-Level Transfers
B. Geetha moves from Salem City Headquarters to become DCP, Headquarters, Greater Chennai City Police.
V. Geetha swaps places, taking over as DCP, Headquarters, Salem City.
A. Velmurugan has been posted as DCP, Central Crime Branch, Tambaram Commissionerate.
K. Prabakar, the incumbent, is now SP-III, Cyber Crime Wing, Chennai.
Senior SP Transfers
A.K. Arun Kabilan is transferred from Nagapattinam district and posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police, Headquarters.
S. Selvakumar will now serve as SP, Nagapattinam district, moving from Civil Supplies CID, Madurai Zone.
Promotions
Kelkar Subhramanya Balachandra, previously ASP, Theni Sub-Division, is promoted and posted as DCP, South, Salem City.
Kambham Samuel Praveen Gowtham, ASP, Colachel Sub-Division, Kanniyakumari, is promoted to SP and appointed as DCP, North, Tiruppur City.
V. Prasannakumar, ASP, Nanguneri Sub-Division, Tirunelveli, has been promoted as DCP, West, Tirunelveli.
This reshuffle reflects the state government’s intent to strengthen law enforcement by leveraging leadership talents across departments and ensuring optimal deployment of human resources.
